Steven A. Goodman
Steven A. Goodman is a Shareholder/Partner with Lynch, Cox, Gilman & Goodman, PSC. His practice concentrates in the areas of transactional matters, tax, corporate & security law, business succession planning, employee benefits (specialization in ESOPs) and estate planning. Prior to joining Lynch, Cox, Gilman & Goodman, P.S.C., Mr. Goodman was a Shareholder/Partner with the Louisville, Kentucky firm of Goldberg-Simpson, P.S.C.
A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Mr. Goodman holds a 1974 undergraduate degree from Indiana University, a 1977 Law Degree from the University of Kentucky and a 1981 Masters of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.
Utilizing his tax and corporate background, Mr. Goodman has extensive experience in counseling clients on transactional matters including merger and acquisitions, reorganizations, dispositions, choice of entity, liquidations and dissolutions. A major focus of Mr. Goodman’s practice involves assisting clients in planning for their retirements and the tax efficient orderly transfer of personal estate and business interests to designated family members and business successors. Mr. Goodman also has become known for advising clients on approved tax favored transactions including employee stock ownership plans (“ESOP’s) & captive insurance companies.
Mr. Goodman represents a number of banks, trust companies, insurance companies and other financial institutions. He also represents taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service as well as a number of state and local government agencies in tax disputes.
